Obituary for Annette Bolden (Burley)

Annette Bolden was born on September 16, 1933, and grew up in Cedar Heights, Maryland, to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Burley. From this union seven children were born (Augusta, Hazel, Lucille, Delores, William, James, and George). All of her siblings preceded her in death.

Annette attended school in the public school system of Prince Georges County.

Annette joined Sylvan Vista Baptist Church in Fairmont Heights, MD, under Pastor Arthur Luckett and was active during her time there. She enjoyed singing and Pastor Luckett would love to call on her to sing solos, and one of her favorite selections was Mahalia Jackson’s popular song – One of These Mornings. She continued as a member of Sylvan Vista until she married.

Annette met her future husband (Willie Pete Bolden) in high school. She wanted to know about the boy with the unusual grey eyes – the relationship began at that time and they never looked back. Annette married Willie Pete in 1953 and after a year of marriage, moved to Glenarden, MD, where they settled down and began having children. From this union seven children were born.

Annette enjoyed the simple things of life. She loved reading, putting puzzles together, and taking her family on local trips to the beach and to the airport to see the airplanes take off and land. She enjoyed being with her family. Taking road trips - going nowhere in particular - just looking at the scenery, stopping to get ice cream along the way. When asked how she was doing, her response was always the same - “blessed and highly favored!”.
Annette was employed by and retired from Prince Georges Community Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland after over 40 years of service. She was a hard worker, dedicated and a loyal employee.

Annette transitioned from this life on Monday, April 22nd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Pete and son, Willie Jr. Annette leaves to cherish her memory her children, Terry, Robin, Sandra (Horace), Donald (Thomascina), Michael, and Dennis; her grand-children, Willie III, Cardell, Tameika, Dennis, Christopher, Tasha, David, Aaron, Chaundra, Sekethia, Caleb, Shaneice, Shawanda, Shanita, Sarah, Serena, Shannon, Sheriece, Shaylisa, and Shante; seventeen great-grand-children; three great great-grandchldren; many nieces/nephews, and a host of friends.
