Barbara Treece Pervall, affectionately known as “Suga Mama” was born November 12, 1946, in Asheville, North
Carolina to the late Winifred and Amanda Treece. On September 7, 2022, she entered her eternal home.
Suga Mama began her education in the Asheville Public School System, attending Mountain Street Elementary
School, Hill Street Junior High School and graduated from Stephens Lee High School in 1965. While growing
up in Ashville, NC, Suga Mama met Leroy Ray and after graduation, they relocated to Washington, DC. They
were married and from this union they were blessed with one daughter, Dana.

During Suga Mama’s journey she met Gary Pervall and she remarried on March 18, 1978. They made their home in Upper Marlboro, MD until his death in March 2002. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She LOVED her family! Suga Mama began her career at C&P Telephone Company & Bell Atlantic, which is now known as Verizon. She was employed for 35 years before retiring in 2002.

Suga Mama was a true fashionista always looking her very best with her hundreds of hats, handbags and shoes to her many pieces of jewelry. Some of her hobbies included sewing, shopping, crafting, and cooking as she was known for her famous macaroni and cheese. However, her love for elephants, seemed to be her passion as she was an avid collector of them which is displayed throughout her home. She also enjoyed vacationing to her hometowns of Asheville, NC, SC and Morristown, TN to visit family and friends, as well as traveling on cruise ships. Suga Mama lived her life unapologetically and to the fullest! She was generous, kind and always giving to family and friends. She had a pure heart of gold and would open her home to many. To know Suga Mama
was to LOVE HER, she was truly blessed.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one loving daughter, Dana Gross; three grandchildren, Jenáe Gross, Jade Gross, Javón Gross; four great-grandchildren, Chance Wilson, Jace Brooks, Brooklynn Brooks, Cree Wilson; one niece Gerri Pervall; five nephews Manfred Holmes, Montague Holmes, Joel Treece, Mark Treece, Kevin
