Carolyn Jean Brockman passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2023, at George Washington University Hospital. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death.

Carolyn was predeceased in death by her parents, Leon and Shirley Thompson, her brother, Floyd Bazemore, and sister, Wanda Thompson.

Carolyn was a kind, caring, and unimaginably generous mother, partner, grandmother, sister, co-worker, and friend.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Flood-Horne (Elliot); life partner, William Ball; grandsons Russell Harris and Adam Horne; two sisters, Janet Thompson and Connie Thompson and one brother, Leon Thompson Jr. (Valerie); and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.

For almost 40 years, Carolyn worked for the District Government at the Child and Family Services Agency. She was quick with a joke, never shy with an opinion, loved to cook and took great pride in her work and her CFSA family. Carolyn brought her whole self to work every day and will leave a legacy that we must care about each other to succeed in this work. It will allow us to live meaningful acts of love, kindness, and service, like Christ modeled for us.
