Catherine Prince, the daughter of the late Perry and Eula Brodie was born on November 13, 1933 in Franklin County, North Carolina. God saw that she was tired, so He called her to her Heavenly home on Saturday, April 15, 2023. A precious saint of the LORD is now resting in peace.

Catherine was a part of a large family. She was the oldest child and had five brothers and seven sisters. She was educated in Centerville, North Carolina. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Perry’s Missionary Baptist Church in Centerville, N.C.

She would migrate to Washington, D. C., where she met and married John Prince Jr. They raised four children, Melvin Watson (Gloria), Renee Prince-Pridgeon (Alvin), Janice Prince and Bryant Wells.

Catherine worked as a domestic worker for private families and as a nursing aid. Catherine was noble, gracious, diligent, and loving. She took pride in her children, work, home, family, and friends.

Catherine was an active member of Purity Baptist and Urban Center. She was an active member and demonstrated what a servant of the Lord should be. She had a sweet smile and a willingness to do God’s work. She was a member of Circle #4, a member of the Senior Choir, the Mass Choir, the Ever Ready Club and was a Consecrated Deaconess. Her legacy to the Deaconess Ministry is that her daughter-in-law (Gloria) and her granddaughter (Nateace) are also Consecrated Deaconesses.

She loved cooking and family gatherings. Her sweet potato pie was unmatched. She leaves four children: Melvin (Gloria), Renee (Alvin), Janice, and Bryant. Five grandchildren: Tenika (Anthony), Nateace, Melvin Jr., Christopher, and Immani. Seven great granddaughters and one great grandson: Jeniya, Jasmine, Jayla, Jace, Ayana, Anise, Alyse, and Avaejah. Twelve siblings: Earl Lee (deceased), Robert Louis, Geneva Elizabeth, Ella Louise, Pearlene Mae (Joe), Mary Helen, Rebecca Jane, Charles Willis, Martha Ann, Evelyn Oneal (deceased), Clinton Ray (Maria) and Willie Eugene. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends.
