Charles Raymond Bright, Sr. was born on October 17, 1939, to the late Willie, Sr., and Myrtle Bright. He grew up in North Brentwood with eleven Siblings. Four Brothers and Seven Sisters. All four Brothers Willie, Jr., James, John, and Isaic preceded him in death along with four Sisters Pearl, Naomi, Hattie, and Ruth.

Charlie, affectionally called by many, attended Prince George’s County Public Schools. Out of the many sports that he participated in, he really loved fishing and bowling the best.

He married Mary Ann Queen in 1963, who preceded him in death. Blending together four daughters and bearing four sons. One, son, William Bright and one stepdaughter, Beverly Queen preceded him in death.

Charlie worked many years at Lustine Oldsmobile and Dar Cars detailing vehicles.

He was a die-hard Washington Commanders fan who supported his team whether winning or losing.

On many days you could find him listening to his music, making tapes of his favorite tunes, and watching Shaka Zulu and the Ion channel until wee hours of the morning. Before COVID, he would spend many evenings playing cards or sitting out front of his building enjoying the weather.

Charlie peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons Charles Bright, Jr. (Ardelle), Ronald Bright (Janie) and James Bright. Three stepdaughters, Renee Queen Hodge (Aubrey), Karen Harris, and Doreatha Harris. Three Sisters, Mary Buck, Lucille Thomas, and Myrtle Bryant. Twelve Grandchildren, Shana Branch (Greg), Ronald Bright (Asya), Chakalah Bright, Shaquille Bright, Kamwren Bright, Derrick Moore, Chawntavia Watkins (Michelle), Mark Queen (Kimberly), Sean Queen, Christopher Hodge (Carolyn), Steven Sowell (InDria), and Felicia Sowell.
