Chere' Therelle Garey (Gamby)
Chere was born in Washington DC to Oscar Gamby and Charles Sidney Hill on May 11,1950. She attended DC Public Schools, starting with John Adam's Elementary to Bertie Backus Middle School and finally Western High School. She worked various jobs, eventually settling at the Office Of Personnel Management, where she stayed for twenty five years; retiring in 2014. Chere married Alvernon Joe Garey on December 31,1991, who she met while they both attended Western High School. Chere was an avid sports fan and cheered for All Washington teams and her Cincinnati teams from her adopted hometown. She loved to travel and see new places. She convinced her husband that Cruises were a good way to explore the world. Family was also important to Chere, since she had a small family, she loved the reunions and gatherings. Chere was a faithful member of Goodwill Baptist Church until her health wouldn't allow her to attend. Chere enjoyed playing cards and listening to good music in her retirement. Until her health failed her, she was enjoying herself.
