Obituary for Christopher Duane Cooper

Christopher Duane Cooper was the only son of the late Linwood and Elizabeth Pringle Cooper. He was born on December 6, 1972, in Washington, DC. Christopher was affectionately known by his family and friends as “Chris, Booga, Pie, and Cooper.” He was raised in Maryland and attended the Prince George’s County Public Schools, graduating from Largo High School in 1992. Throughout his life he worked many jobs he loved, however none as much as his last position as Dockmaster at Kenwood Condominiums. He took his eternal rest on December 18, 2023.

In Chris's early years, he loved to do a variety of things such as playing video games, building a clubhouse in the woods, playing football with his friends and with the Cheverly Community Center, playing the cymbals and drums in the Cheverly Majorette Drum Corp, and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

On any given summer day, you could see Chris in the neighborhood pool, doing belly flops, playing sharks in the middle, and always talking about the Cowboys.

As an adult, Chris developed a passion for music, cooking, traveling, working out, and watching ESPN. He enjoyed playing basketball with his friends, bragging about his jump shot, and boasting about his imaginary Yale degree; all while wearing his Cowboys paraphernalia.

Chris was a true and loyal friend. He made genuine connections wherever he went. He left a lasting impression on those he interacted with within both his professional and personal life. While working at the Kenwood Condominiums, he would exercise great empathy and compassion towards the Kenwood tenants but go out of his way to extend extra care to the seniors. Wow, What a Cowboy!

Family was important to Chris, he loved to exclaim “We’re on Deck” when spending quality time with his family, especially on a family cruise, when face timing with his Nieces and Nephews, during family gathering and when transporting Eduardo and Dayana to school and to their evening activities. He often found unique and humorous ways to help the family to face difficult times. OH, one more thing, Did I forget to tell you he was a Cowboys Fan?

Preceded Chris in death were three uncles, John Cooper Jr., Isaac Pringle, and James “Dorite” Smallwood. He is survived by his loving sister Linette Logan (Fiancée Michael Grate); his niece Ashley Cooper; his nephew Jonathan “JC” Logan; his Great-Niece Destiny Parker and Great-Nephew Cayden McCray; a devoted friend Wendy, and children Eduardo and Dayana Garcia; 6 Aunts Minnie Cox, Ersel Coates, Connie Smallwood; Melissa Rascoe; Renney Sutton, Patricia and Kimberly Cooper; 2 Uncles Horace Cooper, and Wallace (Kimberly) Cooper, and a Host of Cousins, other relatives and loyal Friends.
