Obituary for Cynthia Vaughan Christian

In 1944, Vincent and Violet Vaughan welcomed a beautiful child, Cynthia. She was the only child of their union as Vincent died while Cynthia was young. The 8th of 9 children for her mother, she was adored by her siblings who often noted her feisty personality. Still, they always found creative ways to charm her. Always the doting grandmother, she shared the achievements of her grandchildren with anyone who would listen. They were her pride and joy. Gifted with a great sense of humor she loved to tell funny life stories and would often laugh harder than her audience. Cynthia was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and child of God. She is mourned by her sister Dulcie, brothers Winston and Mel, grandchildren Tahirah and Alexander, daughter-in-law Lillymay, and son Clement.

After migrating to the USA in 1982, she spent a few years in New York then moved to Maryland where she settled into an ever-growing community of friends, and a church home at National Wesleyan Church. During her career as a caretaker, she formed many lasting relationships with her patients and their families. Among her friends and church family, she will be remembered for her stately walk and high fashion. Cynthia enjoyed driving around distributing the multi-meat soup she fashioned. She often walked from neighbor to neighbor handing out church flyers and bread from the National Wesleyan Church bread drive. Her church family will remember her as a sister who occasionally performed songs only seasoned church veterans knew. Friends reflect that she often shared the words and praise of God in every conversation no matter the situation.

Cynthia Delores Vaughan Christian passed away on August 26th, 2023. She was a beautiful person, and she is greatly missed.
