Celebrating The Life of Deborah Eyvette Johnson

Deborah Eyvette Johnson also known as “Debbie and/or DJ” departed her life on Saturday, November 18, 2023. She was born on April 4, 1961, at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington District of Columbia to Cynthia I. Johnson, and the late James H. Johnson Jr.

Debbie attended Barbizon Modeling and Acting School at the age of sixteen. Debbie attended Largo High School, in Largo, Maryland, graduating in the Class of 1979. After Debbie graduated, she started working in Georgetown at a T-shirt shop. Debbie loved that job! After several years, she became employed at Columbia Hospital for Women, 12 years of service at Prince George’s Hospital, and 17 years of service at Children’s Hospital for the duration of her life.

Debbie grew up in People’s Community Church for thirty years and she accepted Christ as her personal savior. Debbie loved the Lord and she was a praying sister.

Debbie was a fashionista who loved shopping and looking fabulous. Debbie set her own fashion trends with her bright colors just like her BIG personality. It was normal to find Debbie sporting a new pair of sunglasses with her pink lipstick just going to play the lottery. Debbie’s family was EVERYTHING to her. She had an enthusiastic sense of humor and was very outspoken. Debbie was the heart and heartbeat of the family. She did everything under the sun to support her family and friends. Debbie was an enormous and generous giver. Her passion was to see others happy and never put herself first before others. All you had to say was “I need” and she would provide it expeditiously with no questions asked. She loved putting a smile on other’s faces. She was absolutely one of a kind. She loved to dance, listen to oldies, and laugh at her own jokes. Debbie and her sister, Felicia, passionately talked about politics and knowing your history all the time. Though Debbie had no children of her own, her baby brother, baby sister, nieces, and nephews were her children. Debbie was present for EVERY major event in their lives. She never missed anything when it came to her family. When it came to her sister Rhonda, they had an immense love for one another and an inseparable & jovial bond. She was by her side when she passed.

Debbie was the second of seven children. She often mothered all her siblings. She had a mountain of friends. Debbie was the life of every party she attended. Every time she walked into a room, her BIG bright smile and joyful personality captivated everyone's attention. Her gleaming bright light and massive big heart left us all way too soon. We will always remember her warmth, love, and generosity. We will all greatly miss her smile and adventuresome spirit.

We will miss our big sister and amazing companion as will those she impacted throughout her life, from friends and family!

Debbie leaves to cherish her memories to her mother, Cynthia Johnson, two sisters Rhonda Lewis and Felicia Harmon, three brothers James Johnson Sr., Rodney Johnson, Sean Johnson, and Rodrick Johnson (deceased), Nieces, Siara Wolley, Brea Harmon, Shatiya Johnson, Nephews, James Johnson Jr., and Rushawn Johnson, Sisters-in-law Letitia Johnson, Karlene Johnson, Darlene Johnson, Brothers-in-law, Sean Harmon, and Dennis Wolley, and many other relatives and friends.

Deep in our hearts is an empty spot Debbie’s smile and laughter used to fill; but nothing can take away the memories we have and always will.
