We are sad to announce the passing of Doris Elizabeth Taylor,74 . A Mother, grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend and a host of other things to many people… Doris was surrounded by her loved ones during her transition. She was born in Winnsboro South Carolina on September 17,1949 to the late Roosevelt and Johnnie-Mae Simmons. She was married to the late Delamore “Jack” Taylor they shared three beautiful children Trenetia Taylor, Wendi Taylor and the late Shye Taylor.

Doris attended Fairfield High School in South Carolina and received her diploma from Dunbar High School in Washington, DC. She went on to further her education at Mary Martha College of Nursing in Washington DC, where she became a registered Nurse.

With her love for people and a heart to serve she began working a Prince George’s Hospital Center where she started her career in Labor and delivery. 45 years later on April 29,2015 she went on to retire ending her career as The Unforgettable Registered Unit Clerk in Behavioral Health “E400”.

But she didn’t stop there! she continued to serve and support by focusing on her family and friends. She dedicated lots of her time to helping contribute to her grandchildren’s dreams and also preparing her siblings for the future.

She was active in the community. She was also an advocate for all things family, history, and peace.

She was a God fearing woman who loved church, worshipping and serving. She was a member of Kingdom Harvest Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Nelson.

Doris was such a beautiful person inside and out she would give you everything she had from love, advice, guidance, patience, money, clothes, food, or just a good time. She loved to laugh, sing and dance! She touched so many people with her vibrant smile, undefeated dance moves and beautiful words. To know her was to truly Love her.

She was the glue that held us together! She was a hardworking woman an inspiration for all of us. Many will say she was the strongest and most bravest woman they’ve ever known Because she was a multitude of things to us and even in her absence she still is.

Doris loved a lot of things from eating and cooking good food to a nice red dress and red lipstick to a road trip. But most of all she loved her family and her friends both near and far.
