Gregory L. Moore was born in NW Washington, DC on March 1, 1958, joining older sisters Patricia and Brenda in a growing family unit (a brother, Dennis, would come along later). He grew to be a quiet, intensely private man with a deep sense of honor and responsibility. After completing school, he joined the Air Force and served in the Air National Guard after his tour of duty.

Deciding not to make the military a career, he began work at the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, eventually making his way upwards until by the time of his retirement, he was Deputy Director of Security Operations.

Gregory was a man of deep faith, though with little use for organized religion. When a long-time friend pressed him to visit her church, Unity of Washington DC, what he found there persuaded him to continue attending on a regular basis for many years. He worked behind the scenes with the audio/visual equipment and did the sound mixing for alternating services.

Gregory was also a man with a love of the outdoors. From nature hikes on various trails in MD and PA, to family vacation trips to FL, MA, Canada, TN, NC, SC and other places to camping with his beloved black Labrador Tasha, he would enjoy just being out in God’s creation. Along with his love of the outdoors, he held a deep and abiding love for his mother Myrtle and his late maternal grandmother, Willie Mae. There was no extreme to which he was unwilling to go to ease their way in life; to the last he went out of his way to shield and protect them.

Gregory leaves behind his mother, sisters, brother and sister-in-law, niece, nephew, aunt and a number of cousins, as well as a small circle of friends, who will all miss his down-to-earth, honest sensibilities.
