Obituary for Henry Joseph Johnson

Henry Joseph Johnson was born on January 12, 1935, in New Orleans, LA.

He was prceded in death by his parents, Claire A. Johnson and Irvin Charles, and his four siblings, Jacqueline, Joan, Gerald and Leon.

Henry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Juanita , two sons Kevin Johnson and Mark Johnson, two daughters, Deanna Kuhney and Robin Toler, a sister, Frances Boirgeois and four grandchildren, Houston, Franchesca, Wesley, and Hampton.

Upon graduating from high school, Henry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years. After returning to Louisiana he attended Southern University. He moved to Washington D.C. in the early 60's and attended Howard University. Most of his working years were for the federal government. He retired from his favorite place to work - NOAA - a branch of The Department of Commerce, where he was Chief of Western Procedures. He had 32 years of service.

After retirement, Henry spent hours enjoying his favorite pastime, playing tennis with his long time tennis buddies. He loved music and spent hours teaching himself to play the piano and guitar, as well as recording hundreds of his favorite jazz tunes.

Henry was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
