Life Reflections

James Mark Hickenbottom was born to the late Reverend Earl and Annie Rebecca Hickenbottom on October 27, 1947, in Uniontown Pa. He departed this life to be with the Lord on May 21, 2023. James graduated from North Union High School in Uniontown, Pa in 1966. After High school he immediately joined the United States Air Force. He served four years after which he received an honorable discharge. James met and married the love of his life Monique in 1978. James retired from AT&T in 2010.

Elder James received Christ at an early age. In 1982 he became a member of Rhema Christian Center Church where he rededicated his life to the Lord. He became highly active in several ministers which include Usher Board, Deacon Board, served as an Altar Counselor, Missionary where he taught in the shelters, Rhema Choir, Men’s Fellowship Choir, instructor, and graduate of the Given’s Bible College, and served on the Finance Committee then later becoming chairman of the Finance Committee.

James leaves to mourn his loving wife Monique, his daughters Dawna (Roy) Parks, Kerrie (Vaughn) McDowell, daughter by choice Gwendolyn McDowell, older sister Muriel Samuel, Brother Norman (Joyce) Hickenbottom, Brother Sylvester Hickenbottom and sister Veronica (Bernard) Moore preceded him in death. Three granddaughters Morgan Breona (Martinez) Jones, Charmaine (Cedric) Turner, and Stacie McDowell, three Grandsons Kenneth, Michael, and Alex McDowell. Two great grandsons Camari Coleman and Braylon Jones. And a host of nieces and nephews who he loved.
