Obituary for Janice Marguerite Thomas (Hines)

Janice M. Thomas was born in Washington, D.C. to Macie Mae Hines (deceased) and Raymond Bernard Hines, Sr.(deceased) August 8, 1947. She graduated from Spingarn High School where she met her future husband Theordore J. Thomas (deceased). They were married for over forty years until his death from cancer.

She was a computer operator with Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) and retired after over 25 years of service. She worked with Maryland Parks and Planning as well as the Prince George’s County school system. She still regularly met with her former Cafeteria Monitor friends once a month. Her church home was Church of the Incarnation where she was a member of the Sodality and The Ladies Auxiliary.

She loved to sing and dance and spend time with friends and family. She was a second mother, aunt, grandmother, and sister to so many. She touched many lives. She was always willing to listen and give insight. She was always on the phone!

She leaves behind her siblings George McPherson, Alvin Hines, Deborah Green, Clovia Hines and Mellissa Hines. Her siblings Marvin Mitchell, Samuel McPherson, Raymond Hines, and Mayleen Jones preceded her in death. Her children Jeanette and Andria Thomas. Her grandchildren Preanna and George Carr III(Husband), Dayvon Thomas, Ionna Thomas, Jaiden Thomas, and Aiden Thomas. Her great-grandchildren Nakaiyah, George V, Za’riyah, Bryson and Khy’son.
