Obituary for John Albert Martin Jr.

John Albert Martin, Jr. was born in Washington, DC on October 9, 1954 devices. John was a diligent and conscientious worker. 1954 to the late John Albert and Geraldine Nellie Martin. His first home was an apartment in Southwest Washington, DC where he lived with his parents and his older sister Rita. John was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools, starting kindergarten at Syphax Elementary School. Shortly after starting school, John's family welcomed the third child and second son, Michael Anthony Martin, born September 19, 1960.

In November 1960, the growing family moved to the Northeast community known as Riggs Park. John would continue first grade at LaSalle Elementary School followed by Bertie Backus Junior High and he would graduate from Calvin Coolidge High School in 1974.

Following high school, John attended Washington Technical Institute that later became part of the University of the District of Columbia. John continued to add to his resume when he enrolled in Control Data Institute.To further advance his technical skills, John enrolled in The RCA Training Course. One of his first jobs was working for The US Postal Service. Later John acquired a CDL license Other employers included Peter Pan and Trailways Bus Co.,
Verizon, and EM Electronics, where he worked along side his dad repairing TV's, stereos, VCR's and other electronic John was a people person. He extended himself to others. It was not unusual to see him driving down the street and pull over to visit the parents of childhood friends, or to beep the horn to acknowledge aquaintances. He rarely missed an opportunity to reach out to someone who needed help.

John's last job was driving for Advance Auto Parts in Mt. Rainer, Md. He really enjoyed this job and the people he worked with especially his boss, Oscar.

John passed away suddenly at his home in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 14. 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory 1 sister: Rita G. Martin, 1 brother: Michael A. Martin, 1 Aunt: Rosella E. Martin, 1 Uncle: Lorenzo O. Martin, 2 special female friends: Paulette Martin, and Melissa Frazier, and a host of cousins and friends.
