In the dawn of day on September 26, 2023, God chose Kristy Lynn Miller to be one of his buds on a bouquet of flowers for the Lord. Kristy believed in the Lord and desired to please him until the end of her race!

Kristy, one of four siblings, was born to Geneva Nance on November 16, 1977 in Prince George’s County, MD. She attended school in the Maryland Public School System where she graduated from Laurel High School in Laurel, MD. She also participated in a variety of programs in school while growing up that allowed her to learn the basics of childcare at an early age. She also completed an A.A. in Early Childhood Education, Prince George’s Community College in 2003, and was currently pursuing her B.A. in Administration, Ashford University.

Kristy had a love for children from a very young age and as she grew older, she treated every child that came close to her as if they were her own. As a result, her love for children quickly grew into her love for teaching and equipping them to be their best selves in life. Over time, the Lord equipped Kristy to function as an Administrator, Leader and Program Director in the Childcare Industry. As a result, her Executive Leadership, Staff, Parents and Children considered it a blessing to be in her presence.

Kristy spoke with a quiet strength, she encouraged with wisdom but most importantly she loved on every one that came into her presence.

Her career included a variety of childcare positions throughout the DMV, US Kids CDC as Lead Teacher & Administrative Assistant in which she managed payroll, scheduled and provided faculty Tours, maintained the files for both staff and children, open and closed centers, and helped provide a safe and nurturing environment. She also worked at Happy Faces as Acting Director in which she assisted with day to day operations, monitored children during indoor and outdoor play, managed accounting and payroll and oversaw the developmental approach to remain in compliance with educational systems. She also operated as Educational Specialist & Lead Teacher at this powerful center. And last but certainly not least, Kristy stepped into the position of Program Director for the Logan’ Shaw Childcare Center in December 2020, in which the Executive Director, Staff, Parents and Children described Kristy as the following: “A woman that loved kids, teachers and parents, a woman that made time for every child as they entered the center, a woman that walked in love and strength and made time to share it daily, a woman that was diligent and accountable, a women that wasn’t afraid to lead and correct us in love and because she did, our lives were changed.” Thank you Lord for lending your daughter to our center.

Kristy grew up in the church and attended a host of different church’s throughout her young life. She attended and joined First Baptist Church of Glenarden – Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. for a season and then she began her diligence at seeking God’s Word by Virtually following Zion Church - Pastor Keith Battle. to ensure she was continuously growing in the kingdom.

She was predeceased by her loving sister Demetrice J. Nance. Unfortunately, she left behind her beloved sibling, Terry Nance, who departed shortly after. She is survived by a loving family to cherish her memory to include: her loving mother, Geneva Nance, her dear son De`Mario Penn, siblings Tommy (Dina), loving sister in law Donna Bell-Nance and aunts Celestine (Calvin – Deceased) Burrell, Reletha (Charles – Deceased) Rice and Ella Weise Blue. While Kristy only had one child, she claimed many others including nephews; Terry, Brandon and nieces; Terra, Bria and a great niece; Kailyn and

great nephew DeVone. She will be dearly missed by life-long friends; Tamoni & Auri, Destina and a wealth of other family members and friends.
