Obituary for Lawrence Eugene Dandridge

Lawrence Eugene Dandridge was born on August 21, 1941, to Marshall and Nannie Dandridge, in Goochland County, VA. Lawrence was the sixth of seven children born of this union. The family relocated to Baltimore Maryland where Lawrence received his formal education graduating from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. Lawrence attended Morgan State College and graduated in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

While still a student at Morgan State University Lawrence was introduced to Elaine by a classmate Claudia, the couple dated for three years. Upon graduation from Morgan State College in 1965, Lawrence married Mary Elaine Hargrove on June 26, 1965. Lawrence and Elaine Dandridge remained in holy matrimony for 57 blissful years. During these years, the couple enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, and vacationing throughout the United States and abroad, for traveling was some one of their greatest passions.

After moving to Washington, DC his first Federal Government job was at Andrews Air Force Base where he later transferred to the Treasury Department where he later retired from the Office of Controller of the Currency (OCC)as a Senior Computer Specialist. During his retirement, he was very active with coordinating OCC’s annual retirement events. He also was very active with Elaine and her duties with the Provident Helene Fuld Nurses Alumni Association (PHFNAA) where he became an honoree member of the Class of 1965.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Nannie Dandridge; four sisters, Eva M. Berryman, Ethel E. Dandridge, Corrine Smith, Irene Dandridge; two brothers, Russell E. Dandridge, and Charles M. Dandridge; three nephews, Wallace Dandridge, Howard Berryman, and Maurice Berryman. Lawrence had another set of special parents, Elaine’s parents, Louis, and Helen Hargrove.

He leaves to treasure his memory, his beloved wife of 57 years M. Elaine Dandridge, two special brothers Joseph and Louis and one sister Helen, nine nieces, Felicia Smith, Celeste Smith, Sabrina Dandridge, LaWanda Dandridge, Renita E. Dandridge, Detria Gaddis, Natlie Greene, Aliesha Johnson, Nicole Hargrove, six nephews, Kevin Berryman, Xavier Smith, Lawrence Smith, Gerald Stokes, Zalleux Johnson, and Louis C. Hargrove and several extended nieces and nephews. As well as grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, many cousins, extended family and a host of classmates, golfing friends, coworkers and neighbor
