Obituary for Lenase Shands (Love)

Lenase Love Shands was born in Tarry Town, Georgia, on October 8, 1948, to the late Leo Love and Jeanette Witcher Love. Lenase was called home by the Lord on April 7, 2023, at Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Care Center in Pasadena, Maryland, at the age of 74. Lenase was the oldest of three siblings, the late Simone Love Dorsey, Leon Love, and Edsel Love. The family traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1960. Lenase attended Kennard Jr. High and Central High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She met and married Davis Winston and had three children: Reginald, Arnetta, and Tamatha. Lenase worked various jobs as a cashier to help support her family. Many years later, in 1975, she moved to Washington, DC, and resided with her late Aunt Willa Mae and Theodore Love. Lenase was employed at George Washington University Hospital as a medical Receptionist. In 1978 Lenase moved her family to Forestville, Maryland. During her tenure at George Washington University Hospital, she met and married the love of her life and soulmate, the late Samuel Thomas Shands, in June 1991. They shared 30 years of marriage. He was also a trustee and devoted member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and passed on Christmas Eve, 2021. Shortly after marriage in 1992, they moved to Fairmount Heights, Maryland. The family increased with a beautiful baby girl Samantha. After 21 years, Lenase retired from George Washington University Hospital. And was later employed at A.C.S Government, Maryland. She was determined to complete her education by attending A.C.T College in Virginia to obtain her associate degree with Honors in Medical Administration in 2007. Minster Lenase Shands enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends on holidays, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Lenase enjoyed reading her Bible, Traveling, Planting flowers, Spending time with family and friends, and watching her favorite Channel 9 stories. Minister Lenase Shands became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in 1998. Minister Lenase loved the Lord and her church family. The anointing was on Minister Lenase. She served as an Usher, Attendant, and Sunday School teacher and became an Ordained Minister in 2017. Minister Lenase Participated in several mission trips to Africa, which she truly loved and enjoyed passionately, and Minister Lenase was indeed a soldier for the Lord.

Minister Lenase leaves behind four children Reginald D Love, Arnetta Renee Love, Tamatha Denise Love, and Samantha Saunders. Eight grandchildren Antoinette Love, Arlyntha Jennette Love, Tia Love, Asia Love, DeAndre Love, Erica Haynes, Angel Love, and Aaliyah Saunders. Seven Great-Grandchildren Jerome Love, Bryan

James Jr., Taliyah Love, Armon Love, Tyler Love, Taylor Love, and Troy Love, Devoted cousins Sharon Brown, Karen Brown Robinson, and Benjamin Adkins. Nieces Angela Cherie Price, LaToya Love, Nephews Ernest Jermaine Price, and Edsel Love Jr. Minister Lenase Shands will be greatly missed by her family, church family, and everyone who knew and loved her.
