A Time to be Born
LISA STARKS was born on September 13, 1958, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late James and Dorothy Starks. She attended the District of Columbia Public Schools, where she graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School and later attended Howard University School of Nursing. Upon completion of nursing school, she was employed by Howard University Hospital, followed by MedStar Washington Hospital Center. In later years, she was employed by Walter Reed Medical Hospital, where she remained until retirement. Lisa dearly loved being a nurse. She had a passion for helping and being of service to others.

A Time to Serve
Lisa joined Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC, at an early age under the pastorate of the late Rev. Henry C. Gregory III. As a youth, she was a member of Sunshine Circle and the Youth Choir. As an adult, she joined the Nurses Unit and the now Faith-Friendly Circle, where she served as treasurer. Lisa was a dedicated member of Shiloh for over 50
years. She loved Shiloh. She worked diligently around the church, but she loved most serving God through her skills as a nurse. She extended her nursing care to visiting the sick and shut-in members and friends.

A Time to Love
For 10 years, Lisa shared a life of unity with Harold Wayman Levy. On May 6, 2006, Lisa and Harold were united in Holy matrimony. They continued to share a life of love and togetherness until Harold’s passing on September 5, 2009. Lisa had a “green thumb.” Her favorite pastime was planting flowers in her yard and growing plants in her home. She enjoyed entertaining her friends at social gatherings and in her home. She loved to travel and traveled as often as she was able to stay in touch with family and friends. Lisa had a lovely smile; her smile and laughter will be deeply missed.

A Time to Rejoice
Lisa leaves to cherish her loving memory her brother, Steven Starks, Sr. (Cynthia) of Landover, MD; nephew, Steven Starks, Jr., of Atlanta, GA; godson, Reginald Cooper of Washington, DC; aunts, Jean Barns of Newark, NJ, Jean Jackson of Bowie, MD, and Cora Jean Hines of Richmond, VA; an uncle, Edward Andrews (Theory) of Emporia, VA; longtime friend, Annette Turner; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
