Obituary for Lonnie Linwood Jacobs

On Thursday, December 7, 2023, Lonnie L. Jacobs fondly known as Jac; received his wings and called to heavenly duty by the Master after a long-term battle with his illness.

Lonnie was born November 30, 1944, in Washington D.C. He received his early education in D.C. public schools and graduated from Eastern High School in Washington D.C. in 1962. Right after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he started working for the Federal Government in General Services Administration (GSA) where he worked his way through the ranks and held various positions. He also attended Prince Georges Community College to further his education to fulfil career objectives. He received numerous service awards throughout his career.

He retired as a Project Planner and Estimator on December 31, 1999, after 34 years of service.

Lonnie learned about the goodness of GOD early in life and began to practice the Catholic faith and became a member of Holy Comforter Catholic Church in Washington DC.

Lonnie had a heart of gold for people, especially those who needed some kind of help. He was a spiritual, compassionate, understanding, hardworking, giving man with a profound sense of humor. He loved to travel, watch football, old westerns, lift weights, reading and watching his favorite game show, Jeopardy. He often volunteered his services with different organizations and communities. Lonnie was a man of integrity.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his loving mother, Doretha Wise, Stepfather, Alton Wise Sr., Grandmother, Arlena Jacobs, Sister, Clevon Jacobs and Brother, Alton Wise Jr.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his three daughters; Cynthia Jacobs, Kim Jacobs, and Pamula Love. Three grandsons, Keon Mathis, Christopher Love Jr., Marquel Love. One great granddaughter, Kamaya Mathis Trepp. Two great grandsons, Kemon Mathis, and Zyair Jokes and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
