Louis Charles Brooks passed away on Monday March 20, 2023, at the too-early age of 52. Lou was born October 29th 1970, to Lawrence C. Brooks Sr. and Mary Helen Brooks.

The family moved from Seat Pleasant to Kettering in 1978, which sent Lou to Largo Senior High school where he graduated in 1988. Lou was a member of the ROTC program but chose not to enter the military upon graduation. After working a various jobs, like at Pizza Hut, Lou was introduced to the Electricians Apprenticeship program by Irving Marshall (Lothian Church of God member). Once Lou completed the program (at IBEW Local 26) he worked all over the DMV at his trade. He eventually took a non-union position as a Technician Supervisor at ComRent International. While at ComRent he was able to travel throughout the United States as well as internationally. Lou later returned to the local union, where he continued until his untimely death.

Lou’s interests varied from being a ‘sneaker head’ seeking out the odd and unusual Nike basketball shoes to motorcycle riding to playing the congas in church and with the Estep Brothers band. Usually if it was something fun, Lou was all about it.

Lou will be remembered by those who knew him best as moody, a jokester, quick-witted, sarcastic and a devoted father. If you didn’t know Lou, you’d swear he was the meanest dude on earth, he’d appear quiet and unassuming but that was far from the truth. He had a heart of gold.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence C. Brooks Sr., and Mary Helen Brooks. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted daughter, Amyiah Ward-Brooks (her siblings Micah Ward, Makyiah Ward, Justyce Wingard) and brother Lawrence C. Brooks Jr., Sister-in-law Brenda Brooks, Niece Candice Brooks, Aunts Glenda Brooks, and Christine Jester along with a host of Aunts, Cousins, family and friends.
