With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who passed away peacefully at the age of 103 on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. We take solace in the knowledge that she is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Lucille Clark was a devout follower of Christ, born on January 4, 1920 in Sumter, SC. She was the daughter of Moses and Rose-Anne Cooper. As a young woman, Lucille met and married the love of her life, Ferdinand Clark (Daddy Pee-wee), until his passing in 1976. Together, they raised two children, Ida (Clark)Jenkins and Curtis Clark and instilled in them the values of love, compassion, and forgiveness that they themselves embodied. In addition to her children, Lucille is survived by four grandchildren; Shelly Gibson, Bridgette Bridges (Donnell), Curtis Clark Jr., Kazra White and six great-grandchildren; Laura Lamothe (Ryan), Melissa Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Cidney Bridges and Morgan Bridges, and Curtis Clark III and nieces Essie Plowden and Esther Richardson, great nieces, great nephews, and close friends and neighbors.
Lucille spent many years working at the National Bureau of Standards as a Computer Librarian. Throughout her life, Lucille demonstrated a steadfast commitment to her faith. In the 1940’s, Mother Clark became a member of Bible Way Church. She also was a cherished member of the True Blue Club, serving in a variety of capacities and always seeking to bring glory to God through her actions and words.
She will be remembered for her love of hats (styling), learning, books, traveling, and designing floral arrangements and corsages. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was always quick to offer a helping hand or a word of encouragement to those in need. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she has been called home to her heavenly reward.
