Obituary for Mary Lou Hallums (Hunter)

Mary Lou Hallums was born December 20,1934 in Easley South Carolina to the late Charles Wyatt and Templeton Hunter. God called her home on Tuesday August 30th, 2022 at Culpeper Rehabilitation Center. Mary was the youngest of five siblings, all have preceded her in death Charles Wyatt, Ernest Heyward, Eugene Hosea and John. She attended public schools in Easley, South Carolina graduating from Simpson High School. In 1952 she married Joe Henry Hallums they were married for sixty wonderful years until his death in 2012. They had five children Joe Jr. of Manassas, Terry (Nadine) of Brightwood, Kimberly Kayanne of Alexandria, Daniel of Waldorf, and Carlton (Tawanda) of Waldorf. In 1964 the family moved to Alexandria, Virginia. Mary worked at Woodbine Nursing Home in Alexandria as a CNA, retiring after twenty years of service. She was a loyal member of Roberts Memorial UMC in Alexandria for fifty-seven years. Mary regularly attended services until her health no longer allowed her, she then faithfully participated via Youtube. In her death Mary leaves behind twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
