The Intelligent, humorous, witty, sassy, love granting, Maxine Shirley Barnett was born on the first day of spring, March 20, 1951, in Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn NY to Roberta and John Ward. Maxine was the eldest sister to Loretta, “Sweet Pea;” John “Sunny;” Roslyn “Roz;” and Theodore “Theo” Ward. Wife to Harold L Chapman, Mother of Keith, and Kissy Chapman. Grandmother to Kaila (Keith), Christopher (Kissy) and Sarai (Kissy). A “Real Nurse” trained in the army, worked at Brookdale Hospital, taught at Advanced Career of Training, administrator at Health Insurance Plan of NY (HIP) and Empire Blue Cross and BlueShield, and Montefiore, while holding a secondary position at Childrens Village through the years. She nursed patients, family, and friends, believing all kids should have a childhood and any child in her life felt the love she gave. She never judged the human only their behavior knowing it told a story. It was music, food, a rum and coke, family and friends and she was happy. Her rice and peas, and potato salad or macaroni and cheese is a small example of how she loved.
