Obituary – Philip Curley Mosley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Philip Curley Mosley, who left us on May 27, 2023. He was 61 years old.
Phil, as he was fondly called by friends and family, was born on November 27, 1961 to Curley and Naomi “Sis” Mosley in Bethesda, MD. He lived in various places in the DMV area, including Falls Terrace SE and Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, and Lanham, MD.
He attended Northern High School and graduated in 1979. He later pursued his passion for Accounting at PG Community College
Phil was a hardworking and dedicated person who excelled in his career as an Accountant and Comptroller. Because he was a “whiz” at handling other people’s money and he had a gift of working with numbers and people, Philip advanced to the position of Director of Finance and Human Resources at Washington Literacy Center (WLC), where he worked for three wonderful years. For many of his colleagues at WLC, Philip was like family.
Despite his busy schedule, Phil was a friend to everyone he met; no one was ever a stranger to him. He was approachable and very much loved. He also had a fiery side, and enjoyed engaging in animated, but respectful debate. His favorite color was GREEN, and his email was “green-eyed monster”. But he wasn’t a monster, he enjoyed being with people all the time and they enjoyed being with him. He brought laughter to family gatherings; he believed that family was everything.
In his free time, his favorite pastimes were shopping, eating, listening to and collecting music, collecting clowns and going to movies. He loved music of all kinds, but especially loved the Pointer Sisters and Prince.
Phil is survived by his son, Terrell Tyson Fletcher; brother Allen Mosley and sister-in-law Vicky Mosley; sister Sheila Porter; sister-in-law Rosalind DeLancey-Mosley; nieces Alisha Mosley and Valentine Porter-Green; nephews Andre Mosley, Allen Mosley, Austin Mosley, Steven D. Mosley, Marcos Mathis; two special cousins Aura Gardner and Michelle Nickens, and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on June 12, 2013, at J.B. Jenkins Funeral Home; Visitation at 9:30, Funeral Services at 10:30, Internment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery at 12:30. Repass will follow; see family for location.
Rest in peace, dear brother, father, friend. You will always be in our hearts and memories.
