Richard Theodore Summers III affectionately known as” Ricky” departed this life on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Ricky was born June 28, 1974, at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC to the late Richard T. Summers, Jr and Frances Jean Summers. He was their only child.

Ricky began his early education in the District of Columbia Public School system and finished in Prince Georges County Public Schools.

Ricky was always the person that family and friends could call upon without hesitation. We knew that without question he would be there in literally no time flat. Ricky was an excellent navigator of the streets within his beloved hometown of D.C. He was also the kind of man that would go above and beyond for his loved ones. He was a devoted son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.

Ricky was a devoted father. He did all he could to pour into his children the knowledge, love, guidance, and the certainty that he would always be present and willing to help chaperon them to the best of their potential.

Being a very avid sports enthusiast, it goes without saying…” How Bout Dem’ Cowboys!”. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy’s fan; and he would not answer the phone for you if you called to tease him because they lost a game. Ricky enjoyed catching various basketball games, wrestling matches, sports podcasts, various ESPN shows and the NFL RedZone. Being the headstrong man that he was, along with his high aptitude for mathematics, there was no way anyone was going to quote any kind of stats better than him. Simply put…to have known Ricky was to love Ricky. Beyond his rugged exterior and quick-witted tongue was an amazing man. Each of us grew to forge our own bond with him. His laughter, good natured sarcasm and jokes will be missed by all.

Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Richard T. Summers, Jr., grandparents Richard T. Summers, Sr., Grandmother Ada Summers, and Grandfather Floyd King Boyd.

Ricky leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Frances Jean Summers. Children – Tyrik Summers and Victoria Littlejohn. Grandmother - Earlene Boyd-Knight. One very special “sister cousin” Sherri Boyd-Eley. Three aunts - Gloria Jean Hinton (paternal) Cynthia Boyd-Thomas and Debra Boyd. Two uncles - Alvin James and Anthony “Tony” Summers (paternal). His fiancé, best friend and longtime love, Adrienne Harrell. He also leaves to cherish his memories, several close cousins, extended family, and friends.
