Samuel Bowman (Sam), the son of Mary Bell and William Funderburke, began his life on
November 17, 1970. Sam received his primary and secondary education through Prince George
public schools and attended Potomac High School. After graduating high school Sam received
vocational training through Job Corps.

Throughout life Sam was always known as the life of every party. He was the first one to make
you laugh on your worst day, the first to start dancing in a quiet room, and the first to start
joning at every function. Sam has always had the biggest personality; he was a self-proclaimed
ladies’ man with a huge heart. Always welcoming and never judgmental. To know him is to truly
love him.

Samuel Bowman departed his life on Sunday July 24, 2022. He was preceded in death by his
brother Lloyd Bizzell, his father William Funderburke, and his son Cortez Wright. He leaves to
cherish his loving memory: his mother Mary Bell, his children Lloyd Wright, Cornesha Wright,
Lorenzo Leggette, Raquan Leggette, Samuel Bowman Jr., and Kareem Leggette; his stepchildren
Darius Leggette, Frank Griffin, Eugene Leggette, and Ciara Leggette. His grandchildren, Paris
Wright, Lyncoln Burwell, London Burwell, Logan Wright, Eugene Leggette, Assani Leggette, Zoey

Leggette, Ariana Leggette, and Zakari Bowman. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings,
Eric Bizzell, Sha’ron Bizzell, Roberta Corson, and his twin Sandrea Bowman; his sister Letithea
Bizzell departed her life shortly after on 7/29/2022. Sam also leaves behind a host of uncles,
aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish his memory.

“We love you dad and there’s nothing you can do about it”

“You my son have earned your wings. A memory I will always cherish is how you thought you
were a certified physical therapist, and you would say to me, "it’s time for your therapy Ms.
Bell.” Always funny, gentle, kind, caring, making jokes, singing, and dancing; it was never a dull
moment with you. I will truly miss you, my son. I love you unconditionally.”
