Serenity Tajjae Sellman was born on May 1, 2008, to Rose Sellman and the late Aaron Robinson in Cheverly, Maryland. She was the second born of seven of her mom’s children, and fifth of seven, and the baby girl of her dad’s children. From the moment she was born, her inner joy seemed to shine. Everyone loved her instantaneously.
Affectionately known as Ren by family and close friends, she was a sweet but shy girl who pretty much stayed to herself. She always displayed a huge smile and enjoyed spending time with her family, and a few select friends. Her older brother BJ, cousins Amelia, Makiyah, Kemari, mother Rose, Grandmother Mona, sister Marlee, and baby cousin Kash, were who she most enjoyed spending time with.

Serenity tragically passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the tender age of 15, along with her cousin Dartreal Byers, and her best friend Zyshaun Cuffey, leaving their families devastated. She was a ninth-grade student at Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where she would’ve been part of the 2026 graduating class. She was interested in becoming a doctor but didn’t like to touch feet. Having a love for animals, Ren also entertained the idea of becoming a veterinarian, but was afraid to touch snakes.

If you knew Ren, you knew that she loved herself more than anything. She especially loved and cherished her beautiful, long, thick head of hair. Selecting styles for her mom to recreate always put a smile on her face. Her favorite color was purple, and she loved designer bags, clothes, and shoes. Ren had her own personal style that everyone loved. She loved taking selfies and creating Tik-Tok reels with her cousins and baby sister Marlee in her spare time, Serenity loved playing her favorite video games: Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto. In addition, she enjoyed cooking recipes she saw on Tik-Tok.When her brother AJ visited, she enjoyed playing video games with him.
She also loved play fighting and wrestling with her younger brother's Amari, MJ, and Ashton. She enjoyed getting tattoos done by her father figure Marcus. She had seven of them and wanted many more.
Ren was enjoying reconnecting with her paternal siblings and family since the passing of her dad earlier this year. She was preceded in death by her great grandmother, Rose Chapman, and father, Aaron Robinson.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her loving and devoted mother, Rose Sellman; father figure, Marcus McDonald; two loving grandmothers, Mona Hamilton, and Elaine Robinson; great grandmothers, Agnes Hamilton and Joyce Turner; grandfather, Charles Sellman; 12 siblings, Aaron Butler, River Robinson, Barry Vinson III, Rain Robinson, Janiah Miller, Storm Robinson, Aaron Hall, Jr., Amari Sellman, Ashton McDonald, Marcus McDonald Jr., Zy’Air Lowe, and Marlee McDonald; aunts, Moesha Hamilton, Agnes Sellman, Monika Wills, Veda Savoy, Rena Ballinger, and Corinthia McDonald; uncles, Joseph Hamilton, Joel Robinson, and Bjorn Kyler, Al Ballinger; bonus mother's, Michele Ashmon and Tamika Bowser (Texas); bonus father, Barry Vinson II; bonus grandparents, Lamenthia McDonald, Barry Sr. and Annette Vinson; godparents, Latasha Hamilton, Antonio Stinny and DeCarlos “Pookie”; best cousins/friends Amelia Wills, Makiyah Young, and Kemari Black; and a host of cousins, family and friends.

Ren is now resting in her new Heavenly home with God, cousin Dartreal, best friend Zyshaun, dad Aaron, and great grandmother Rose. She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was the kind of young lady that anyone would be proud to call daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend.
