Obituary for Sheila A. Alford (Jefferson)

On October 25, 2023 we all gained a new guardian angel; Sheila Ann Alford (Suber) age 66, gained her wings and transitioned to the spirit.

Sheila Ann Alford was born September 22,1957, to Sara O. Jefferson (Suber) and Raymond Jefferson (step-father) in Washington, DC. She was a proud graduate of Parkdale High School. Sheila first worked at Frito-Lay where she loved ‘accidently’ making special bags of Sour Cream and Onion bags of chips for her daughter Crystal. Sheila later went to Professional Development School and got certified as a Hospital Unit Secretary and became the unit secretary at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC, where she worked for over 25 years.

Sheila loved education and decided to go to Prince George's Community College and then enrolled in Bowie State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pedology May 23, 2004 and a Master of Arts May 20, 2011. During that time she also became a member of Alpha Chi, on February 22, 2002.

Sheila Ann King and James W. Alford were married on October 26, 2003. For those who knew Sheila they knew that no obstacles in life would slow her up. She enjoyed taking vacations, traveling, and going to car shows with her husband. Sheila loved the beach and whenever she could she would go to enjoy the sun and sounds of the waves. She was dedicated to bringing her family together from far and wide and participated in many family reunion events over the years. Above all Shelia cherished her family and was especially devoted her life to all her grandchildren. Some of her favorite activities were getting her family and friends together to have good times, to watch the Cowboys play, to party and dance, and to eat good food especially her beloved Maryland blue crabs.

She is preceded in death by her mother Sara, her step father Raymond, and her father Charles Thompson.

She is survived by her husband James W. Alford; two brothers Marvin and Charles Jr.; two sisters Bridgette and Lucy; four daughters Crystal (Ashley), DaNita, DoRita (Antoosh), Lolita; two sons Cedric “Bigstuff” (Amanda), Tony; ten grandchildren Jaysean, Makayla, Brayden, Layla, Brittany (J May), David III, D'lonzo, Calvin, Deysha, Destini; and five great grandchildren Nelayni Ray, Akiva, Zaahir, David IV and Sevyn.
