Obituary for Vera Mae Trappio (Robinson)

Vera R. Trappio transitioned this life on Thursday, September 14th, 2023, at Bowie Spring Assisted Living, Bowie, Md., while in recovery from surgery. Though the surgery was successful, she became severely deconditioned and was unable to rebound as had been her norm from other health challenges.

Widowed for over three decades, Mrs. Trappio leaves to mourn one son, Ellis Trappio, Jr., a grandson, Mason Olonade, a great grandson, Okoyemi Olonade, two brothers, James B. Robinson and Charles Michael Robinson, one sister, Barbara V. Landon, a wealth of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

A long-time choir member and soloist for St. Phillips Baptist and McKendree United Methodist churches, as well as the Choraleers of the Senior Wellness Center, Mrs. Trappio loved sharing her gifts of song and amazed listeners with seemingly effortless renditions of spirituals, hymns, and whatever music she shared.

Retired from The DC Department of Health as a Social Services Counselor, she loved her family, Scrabble, fragrances, travel near and far, talking with friends and neighbors, walking in the community, and of course, music.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 29th, 1130am, at McKendree United Methodist Church, 2421 Lawrence St NE, Washington, DC 20018 followed by inurnment at Lincoln Memorial Cemetary, Suitland, MD 20746.
