Obituary for Vernon Webster Bell

VERNON WEBSTER BELL , was born to the late Amy and Lawrence Bell, Sr. on March 29, 1939, in Prince Georges County (PG County). He was raised in the Lincoln Vista Community in Lanham, Maryland. He attended Public Schools in PG County until he graduated from Fairmont Heights High School.

After graduating from high school, Vernon volunteered to serve our country by enlisting into the Army on December 4, 1961. Vernon later attended a trade school where he mastered carpentry. It was because of his carpentry skills that the US General Services Administration (GSA) hired Vernon. He was a diligent and tenacious employee; therefore, GSA promoted Vernon to a Planner and Estimator position, in which he remained until his retirement in May 2003.

On August 13, 1983, Vernon married the love of his life, Jaqueline (Jackie) Lynch. Through this union God blessed them with their son Eric. Vernon was also blessed with his son Vernon, Jr. and two daughters, Denise Contee and Sydnee Williams.

In the 1980’s, Vernon joined the 19th Street Baptist Church under Pastor Jerry Moore. In later years Vernon became a devoted member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Lanham under Pastor Mark D. Venson.

Vernon’s passions were working on his classic cars, working in his yard, and going to the Casino. Vernon was also an avid sports fan, especially for the home teams. He was a die-hard fan of the Washington Commanders, the Nationals, and the Wizards.

On Sunday, September 9, 2023, at the Age of 84, the Lord delivered Vernon W. Bell to His world of serenity.
