Obituary for William Hazar Hill
William Hazar Hill earned his heavenly wings and transitioned to his eternal home in heaven on September 18, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1938, to the late Gasper and Reba Hill in Conway, North Carolina in Northampton County.
William moved to Washington, DC when he was 17 years old to help his father as he worked to move his mother and siblings to DC from North Carolina. He later met his beloved wife of 66 years, Evelyn Virginia Jennings, and they were blessed with five children. William worked various jobs to provide for his family, including Schenley Industries where he worked for 29 years in merchandise display and interior design until he retired. He was a pillar of strength and man of honor to everyone who knew and loved him. He also was a faithful member of Trinidad Baptist Church for many years and attended services regularly.
William was a devoted husband and father and often spent most weekends taking his young family to state parks, beaches, amusement parks, and the family cottage in Wellington Beach, Maryland, which he built with his father and brothers. It was at this cottage that he created wonderful, long-lasting memories for his family to treasure for years to come. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved boating, hunting, fishing, crabbing, and working in his beloved garden. William was a master of many skills, loved working on his classic Cadillac cars and carpentry work, and had the uncanny ability to fix almost anything.
William leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Evelyn, children: Cynthia Miller (Michael), Judy Beale, William Jr. (Sandra), Darlene Dinkins (Anthony), and Eric, grandchildren: Marcus Wright-Hill, Tina McDade (Will), Michelle Roxborough (Stefan), Erica Hill, Eric Jr., Donnell Beale, Ivan Beale, Myles Hill, Reniya Dinkins, Desmond Dinkins, great-grandchildren: Joshua McDade, Kylie McDade, Jonathan Roxborough, Gabriel Roxborough, Taylor Hill, Giovanni Hill, Eden Hill, Olivia Wright, Gianna Wright, Landon Sharps, Natasha Beale, Eric Hill III, brother: Herbert Hill (Pauline), sister: Surlina Hill Aaron, sister-in-law: Christine Peebles, Brother-in-law: Jonathon Peebles and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents, William is predeceased by his brothers: James and Thomas, sister: Mary “Sis” Peebles, sisters-in-law: Mary Hill, Lillie Jennings, brothers-in-law: Claude Jennings, Jimmie Jennings, James Jennings, son-in-law: Randolph Beale
