William Edward Waddell, Jr.

William Edward (Eddie) Waddell Jr., son of the late William, Sr., entered this world July 1, 1942, and was peacefully called home on March 23, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Naomi Waddell, two sisters, Rebecca, Jacquelyn, and one brother, Ernest M. Waddell, Sr.

William received his early religious training in the Mount Olive AME Church in Wilmington, NC. He was educated in the Wilmington school system, graduating from Williston Senior High School in the class of 1960. In high school, he was one of the original members of the Aristocrat Society Club. Upon completion of high school, William served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, in which one tour of duty included Vietnam.
William was employed by various commercial companies in the DC area. His last eight years of employment was with Proven Management, LLC as a Manager of Facilities.

He was a member of the Waddell Group, which established the Waddell Group Endowment Fund Scholarships in 1996 in memory of our mother, Naomi Waddell. The Endowment Fund provides scholarships for student athletes at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC.

William is survived by his five siblings Geraldine of Philadelphia, PA; Frederick (Patricia) of Goldsboro, NC; Nathaniel (Mary) of Springfield, VA; Rudolph (Bernadette) of Richmond, VA; and Judith (Felix) of Fayetteville, NC; Roberta Coleman, close friend, of Washington, DC; Five nephews Terry (Beatrice) ; Ernest Jr. (Jina); Nathaniel II; Brandon (Sharnequia); Brent (Veronica) and one niece, Mia; several great nephews and nieces, and great great nephews and nieces. Aunts: Mardelle L. Walker of San Diego, California; and Eloise Waddell of Tallahassee, Florida and a host of other relatives and friends.

William was a man of many “hats” who enjoyed family and friends, his quiet time, and sports. He was beloved by many and will be sorely missed.
